Dispute resolution options
Dispute resolution options are the formal ways parents and schools can work out disagreements about special education. They include mediation, a State complaint and a due process complaint. Each one works differently and has its own steps and time limits.
Many disagreements are worked out by talking with the school or asking for an IEP meeting. A parent training center can help you compare the formal options before you choose one.
