Section 504 plan
Section 504 is a federal civil rights law that protects students with disabilities in schools that receive federal funds. In this guide, "504 plan" means the supports and services a school provides to a student under Section 504.
Section 504 regulations require schools to provide a free appropriate public education, which can include regular or special education and related aids and services. They also require evaluation and procedural safeguards. The regulations do not use the term "504 plan".
Also called: 504 plan, 504, Section 504, Rehabilitation Act, accommodation plan
