Short-term removal
A short-term removal is when school staff remove a child with a disability from the current placement for a short time for breaking a code of conduct. Federal rules describe removals of not more than 10 school days in a row.
Whether an early pickup or a phone call to come get a child counts as a removal depends on the facts; this tool does not decide that. Several short removals can add up to a change of placement.
